Bira Almeida’s full name is Ubirajara Guimarães Almeida but is best known as Mestre Acordeon. He was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, in 1943.
As a Capoeira master, he is one of 10 masters certified by Mestre Bimba. Mestre Acordeon was a student of the legendary Mestre Bimba in the late 1950s and began teaching Capoeira in the early 1960s. Mestre Acordeon has traveled extensively outside of Brazil to promote Capoeira.
